More than 1750 people from Tatarstan having their cars driving on methane

29 August 2019, Thursday

Interest of Tatarstan residents to alternative fuel is growing. The average annual growth of converted individual vehicles is 158%.

Since the beginning of the program "Development of the gas engine fuel market in the Republic of Tatarstan" in 2016, more than 1750 cars of residents of the Republic have been transferred to methane.

The transfer of cars from gasoline to gas can reduce emissions of harmful substances by an average of five times, and the noise impact – by half. In addition to this, the price of gas fuel is significantly lower than the fuel of oil origin and is 20-60 percent of the cost of gasoline and 50-70 percent of diesel fuel.

The transition to methane is also economically beneficial for entrepreneurs. Reducing the share of motor fuel costs in the cost of production increases its competitiveness.

It should be reminded, that in the framework of this program, the subordinated to the Ministry of economy of RT Centre of programmes for support and development of small and average business in Tatarstan offsets some of the costs to legal entities, individual entrepreneurs and citizens for the transition of their cars to natural gas. Payment is made by subsidizing foregone income of accredited refurbishment and maintenance points. Depending on the type of equipment  no more than 30 percent of the costs can be subsidized.

In 2019, the start of the program was announced on July 5. In almost 3 months, 455 vehicles have been re-equipped by individuals.

Within the duration of the program the conversion of more than 3,000 units of equipment in the amount of 92.5 million rubles has been subsidized.

Acceptance of applications this year will last until December 10.
