Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan Midhat Shagiakhmetov spoke about the growth and development of e-commerce in Tatarstan at a briefing on online commerce and measures to support online sellers.

"The development of e-commerce is currently one of the priorities for both our republic and the country as a whole. Electronic platforms demonstrate accelerated growth rates and, along with traditional retail chains, have already become a familiar way for citizens to buy goods," the Deputy Prime Minister said.

Thus, according to the Association of Internet Trade Companies, by the end of 2022, the number of republican sellers has increased by 2 times and exceeded 45.4 thousand. Their sales turnover amounted to about 50 billion rubles, which is 2 times higher than the results of 2021.

Midhat Shagiakhmetov noted that the republic has been operating an e-commerce development program since 2019. The program is implemented in 5 main areas:

1. Development of e-commerce infrastructure;

2. Assistance to SMEs in the registration and placement of goods on Russian marketplaces;

3. Promotion and popularization of their products;

4. Assistance to SMEs in entering international electronic platforms;

5. Conducting educational and training programs.

According to the results of 2022, within the framework of this program, the My Business Center subordinated to the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan under the national project "Small and Medium-sized entrepreneurship and support for individual entrepreneurial initiative" provided entrepreneurs with the following support:

  • Microloans are provided for SMEs that have placed products on the RMC;
  • certification and patenting services are provided,
  • services are provided for the placement of goods on marketplaces, including international electronic platforms
  • training programs were conducted to improve the skills of SME representatives for effective work on Internet sites;
  • training seminars and forums on the development of e-commerce were held for about 2 thousand participants.

The e-commerce development program in the Republic of Tatarstan has been extended until 2025. Midhat Shagiakhmetov stressed that the program is aimed at creating further conditions for the development of electronic commerce, involving more entrepreneurs in online sales channels and increasing the speed of delivery of goods to the consumer.
