The Federation Council has approved the Federal Law on expanding the range of medium-sized entrepreneurship

The meeting of the Federation Council approved the Federal Law "On the amendment of the Federal Law on the Development of small and medium-sized enterprises in the Russian Federation", prepared by the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia jointly with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and   Federal Tax Service .

The document is developed in accordance with the program of support for the light industry, approved by the Government of Russia.

The draft bill provides that the subjects of medium sized business can be the companies, operating in the sphere of light industry and with the average number of employees exceeding the limit value for such enterprises, established by the federal law.

This measure will provide a targeted support for the investment projects to modernize and create new production sites in the light industry.

The Federal Law No. 209-FZ "On the development of small and medium-sized enterprises in the Russian Federation" has established the limit values of indcators, which are used to categorize the economic entities as the subjects of SME. According to the income from the business activity for the preceding calendar year: up to 120 million RUB - micro enterprises, up to 800 million RUB - small enterprises, up to 2 billion RUB - medium-sized enterprises. By the size of the average number of employees for the preceding calendar year: up to 15 persons -micro-enterprises, up to 100 persons -small enterprises, up to 250 people - medium-sized enterprises.
